Who we are

Freshot is made by Digitforge Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17091016), registered office: Office 9489, 321-323 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6AX, United Kingdom. Digitforge Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here.

Your photos

  • Stored on your phone only. Photos you take or import, and every AI result, are saved in the app on your phone. We have no copy of your photo library.
  • Sent only when you ask for an AI edit. When you apply a style or type an edit, that one photo (and the words of your edit) is sent through our server to our AI provider, BytePlus (a ByteDance company), to create the result. This only happens after you tap "Allow and continue" on the AI consent screen. You can turn AI processing off at any time in Settings → AI processing.
  • Not kept. We do not store your photos or your edit text on our servers. The result is downloaded to your phone straight away. A short record of each edit (its status, how many credits it used, and a link to the result that expires) is deleted after 24 hours. BytePlus processes the photo to create the result under its own terms and does not receive your name or contact details from us.

Camera, photo library and location

Freshot asks for access to your camera to take photos, to your photo library when you choose a photo to import, and to add results to Photos when you tap Save (or turn on "Save results to Photos"). Freshot never asks for or records your location, and photos taken with Freshot's camera contain no location.

Faces

To frame photos and check that a style can work (for example that a portrait style has a person in it), the app looks for faces using Apple's Vision framework on your phone. This face information never leaves your phone, is not stored, and is not used to identify anyone. A photo you choose to edit may of course show faces; it is sent only for that edit, as described above, and is not kept.

What else we process

DataWhyHow long
An anonymous account ID (no name, no email)To hold your credits and plan.Until you use Delete my data.
Credits and plan (free, trial, monthly, yearly)To provide the edits you are entitled to.Until you use Delete my data.
A device check (Apple DeviceCheck on iPhone; on Android a one-way hash of the device ID)To give the free starter credits only once per device and prevent abuse. The device marker is kept so the free credits cannot be claimed again; it contains no personal details.
Usage counters (number of edits per minute and per day)To protect the service from abuse.Until you use Delete my data.
Reports you send about a result (the edit's ID, the reason, the style, never the photo)To review problems and improve safety. As long as needed to review the report.
Purchases (subscriptions and credit packs)To give you the credits you paid for. Payment itself is handled by Apple; we never see your card details. As long as needed for your purchases and legal records.

Usage statistics

To see which features are used and where the app can be improved, Freshot uses Google Analytics for Firebase. It records events such as screens opened, styles applied, onboarding steps and whether an edit finished or failed, together with a random app-instance ID and general device information (model, iOS version, approximate region based on the connection). It never records your photos, the words of your edits or your name. It does not use Apple's advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Google keeps this data for up to 14 months.

You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Share usage statistics; Delete my data also resets the analytics ID on your phone.

We do not use advertising or tracking, and we do not share or sell your data to anyone for marketing.

  • Your consent to send the photos you choose to edit to our AI provider (you can withdraw it at any time in Settings).
  • Performance of our contract with you to provide edits, credits and purchases.
  • Our legitimate interests in preventing fraud and abuse (the device check and usage limits), in reviewing reports, and in understanding how the app is used to improve it (usage statistics, which you can turn off).

Service providers and transfers

  • Google (Firebase): our server, the anonymous sign-in, the database and usage statistics, hosted in the United States.
  • BytePlus (a ByteDance company): the AI that creates your edited photo, on servers in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Apple: In-App Purchases and DeviceCheck.
  • RevenueCat: manages subscriptions and purchases.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards in their data protection terms, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum and standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw your consent. The fastest way to delete everything is in the app: Settings → Delete my data, which removes your account, credits and usage records from our server and every photo from the app on your phone. For any other request, email us at business@digitforgelimited.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk.

Children

Freshot is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly process data from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
